The toe drops. The toe catches. The cable holds. The toe clears.

Foot drop means the muscles that lift the front of your foot are weak. In the swing of each step, the toe drops and catches. The Steady Brace runs a cable from a dial at the ankle to the front of the foot — turn the dial, the cable shortens, the toe stays up.

Without support Swing phase

Toe catches the ground → trip

With Oakhold Swing phase

Foot held in neutral → toe clears

02How it works

On in under a minute. With one hand.

No straps to thread through laces, no plastic shell to wrestle into a shoe. Three moves, sitting down, every morning.

  1. 01

    Slide your foot in

Open heel, soft neoprene. It goes on over a sock like a slipper. Works on the left or right foot.

Sliding the foot into the brace
  2. 02

    Press the strap closed

One wide strap above the ankle bone. Press, done. Nothing to lace, nothing to hook.

    Pressing the ankle strap closed
  3. 03

Turn the dial until your toes lift

Each click shortens the cable a little. Stop when the front of your foot sits level. Put your shoe on over it.

03Why Oakhold

Every other option has a catch.

Hover or focus each card to see why the usual fixes leave you managing the fix.

The catch: bulk

Rigid plastic AFO

Holds the foot, but it's a hard shell. Needs a bigger shoe, rubs the shin, and won't let the ankle flex when you push off.

The catch: your shoes

Lace-hook straps

Only work with lace-up shoes, slip on the laces, and the lift changes every time you re-tie.

No catch

Oakhold Steady Brace

Soft, low profile, dial-set. Fits inside the shoes you already own and flexes with your step.

  • Holds the foot in neutral
  • Dial sets the lift to the click
  • Open heel, breathable
  • Left or right, one size

With the Oakhold Steady Brace

No more catching. Just a step that holds.

05 · Honestly, though

Not for everyone. Here's who it's for.

Made for

  • Mild to moderate foot drop
  • After a stroke, MS, back surgery or a nerve injury
  • People who can stand and walk, with or without a cane
  • Anyone tired of catching a toe on nothing

See an orthotist first if

  • Your ankle is fully flaccid or spastic
  • You can't feel the skin on your foot (check it daily if you wear any brace)
  • Your clinician has advised a rigid AFO
  • You have open wounds, swelling or circulation problems at the ankle

The Steady Brace supports the front of the foot while you walk. It doesn't treat the cause of foot drop and isn't a substitute for advice from your doctor or orthotist.

The payoff

Walk without thinking about walking.

The mailbox is forty steps. The stairs are twelve. When your toe clears the ground on every one of them, you stop counting.

Toes clear the groundThe cable holds the front of the foot up through the swing of each step.
Less compensatingNo more hiking the hip or swinging the leg wide to make room for a dropped toe.
Wears all dayOpen heel and breathable fabric, low profile enough to forget it's there.
05Before you ask

Fair questions, straight answers.

Everything people want to know before their first brace.

Yes, in most everyday shoes: sneakers, walking shoes, loafers, boots. The brace is a soft, low-profile sleeve with an open heel, and the dial sits above the ankle bone, so nothing bulky goes inside the shoe.

One size fits most adults (US shoe sizes 6 to 13) and the same brace wears on either foot. If you have foot drop on both sides, order two.

You set it. Each click of the dial shortens the steel cable slightly and lifts the front of the foot a little more. Most people find their setting in the first two or three walks.

Yes. The cable holds the foot up during the swing of the step but flexes when you plant and push off, which is the main thing a rigid plastic AFO can't do.

No. The Steady Brace supports the front of your foot while you walk. It doesn't treat the cause of foot drop, and it isn't a substitute for your doctor's or orthotist's advice. If you have a severe or spastic drop, ask them first.

Hand wash in cool water with mild soap, air dry. Don't machine wash or put it near heat, the neoprene and the dial don't like it.
